H Info...

I wanted to post some pics of our good friend Mr. H. Or Cindy. Or Mr. Happy Spot. Or whatever you feel like calling him. Or her. Anyway, I've been conversing with a Dr. who is very well known for his treatment of these birthmarks and he has requested I send him pictures every month. So, I was getting my pictures ready today and I think I can see a definite change. Of course, lighting and editing and all that good stuff will mess with the pictures, but the general size looks different to me. I was pretty sure I was seeing changes recently, but I always second guess myself.

The set of three were taken July 15th. The set of two were about the 22nd of August.

So, what do you think? Can you see any changes? Am I imagining it?

Ice Blocking

Last night Aunt Cristal arranged an Ice Blocking Adventure for all the cousins. We met up at a park armed with ice blocks, towels, pizza, chips, watermelon and monkey bread. And, with monkey bread in the mix how can you have a bad time?

For the last few days while we had been planning and talking about going the kids were just baffled. They could not understand how this was all going to work. There were a million questions, tons of head scratching and finally PJ said..."Well, I'll believe it when I see it." Needless to say, he believed it...and he loved it.

Size 3 diapers!

Miss Samantha and I ventured out to Costco yesterday in search of diapers. And, I am proud to say that she is now wearing size 3's! She's still a little under the weight recommendation, but when I realized I was going to have to buy a box containing a gazillion diapers I decided to buy a bit big. Apparently, she thinks that it is hilarious to have a box of diapers that is bigger than she is.

Thursday, 8/20/09

Today Sami and I ventured off to Ikea with Aunt Cristal and Cousin Ryan. Of course, I went after nothing in particular and ended up with lots. All NEEDED things I might add...(for the benefit of my husband!)

Jesse's big news of the day is that he finally got all his punches. And, he clarifies this by saying that "Mrs. Velazquez would not really punch us." He was so excited! They each have a card and Mrs. V will punch it when she catches them being good. I assume there is a treat involved but he was too excited to explain is clearly...I believe I heard something about a treasure box.

PJ is doing awesome in reading! I have started tutoring him every night and I can see improvement already. His big achievement of the day (for me) was that he came home, did his homework, checked off all the boxes on his job chart and then asked to go out to play. I think I heard angels singing!

Miss Taylor was also very happy today. She only missed 2 on her math test! She was soooooo happy! And, I was very proud of her - I have a fondness for math. She is very good at is as well, she just thinks too much. It's hard for her not to be analyzing it to death and just to do it. hmmm...wonder where she gets that from? haha

And, Miss Samantha...my sweet face. Happy as a clam. Loves every minute of her life. Had a blast shopping and eating lunch with her cousin Ryan. I think she's still trying to figure him out. She's not used to such small boys. Usually the ones that she sees are up and running around yelling. She was so funny at dinner tonight. Would not take the baby food carrots from me, but when I gave her some cooked cubed ones she snatched them up! Silly girl! She is also trying to figure out this whole phone deal. She can't seem to understand where Dada is. She will just sit and stare at the phone when he's talking to her, but then when I'm on the phone with anyone else she just babbles away..."dadadadada".

Sami has discovered she absolutely loves swinging. I started taking her out a bit a few weeks ago, but lately it's Jesse who wants her to go out so he can push her. She loves it! Of course, I think he probably pushes a bit too hard, but she doesn't seem to mind at all. In fact, I think that the harder he pushes the harder she laughs.

Just some chit-chat...

The big kids have headed off to school. Tay to 7th grade, PJ to 3rd and my baby, Jesse to Kinder. All is going well.

Tay is doing well, seeming to enjoy herself. But, she is like her Dad that way. You can never quite tell because they are so easy going that they just go with the flow. She is at a new school and it is beautiful! Looks like you are on a college campus! Really nice! She is in Honors math and Language Arts again, and her elective this semester is Photojournalism. She has very nice teachers - although, of course, she had opinions about some of them. haha Her new school is a "Backpack Free" school. I'm not really sure why this is, but it is a little hard for her to get used to. She has to carry a really big binder that zips all the way around. So, being as there are no backpacks, there are no books to carry home. Which means that all her books are online. Fortunately, when Gramma and Tata heard about this they decided that Taylor deserved a brand new laptop! And, it's purple, too! Such a generous gift - but there is nobody in the world that deserves it more. Taylor is just amazing in all that she does!

PJ has a tough teacher this year. This is the same teacher that Tay had for 3rd grade. And, Tay spent 2 weeks crying and refusing to go to school. So, that tells you how bad it was! Once I figured out the problem, though, and talked to the teacher I realized that she was the nicest person in the entire world. She just has very high expectations. But, we have high expectations for the kids, too. So, when I saw her name as PJ's teacher I was thrilled. A little nervous, but really happy. And, it seems to be working out really well. He loves her structure and the rules. He was happy as can be to have to write up his behavior contract and have me sign it.

Mr. Jesse is loving Kindergarten. However, he has been sick and missed all this week so far. I was hoping he'd be going in today, but when I woke him up he said he thought he shouldn't go. hmmm.... We'll see. We were at the Dr. on Tuesday and he has Croup. Which, I thought only babies got, but I guess not. Anyway, he enjoyed Kinder while he was there. haha He was Star Student the first full week of class and he really liked that. He got to be line leader and do lots of special things in the classroom. However, he also had to have something to bring in to the class everyday. Which, made me the Star Mommy, I guess. And, it was a lot of work being Star Mommy!

Miss Samantha is all of a sudden doing everything! She is sitting up, and when I'm not looking she'll somehow dive to her belly and to the side. I haven't figured out how she's doing this yet, but I'm anxious to see her in action. She is eating very well, too. She loves most anything, but these days her favorites are applesauce, sweet potatoes and baby Goldfish. This week she also started doing a lot of talking. She is saying Dada, TayTay, and PJ swears he hear her say "phooey". I'm not so sure about that one, but whatever. She also has discovered her love of shoes. Mostly her Dad's shoes. I think that this is because he's the only (weird) person who wears shoes in the house. haha He'll be holding her and all of a sudden she's bent in half looking down at his feet. It's really funny!
